The toilet sound system is used to hide the sound of going to the toilet in public restrooms because it’s considered taboo and embarrassing to hear another person peeing or farting (or forcing others to listen to you relieve yourself). It’s just another level of being polite and courteous to others.

Your son really did say it best about the Toto. And I agree; there's so much to love about Japan! I so enjoyed all your stories from there. I would love to use the info from this piece and the last, but I'm not sure how. I'm 66, with usually clear, non-oily, non-sensitive skin, and generally go without makeup. I use BOOM silk, AM + PM, and like how it keeps my skin moisturized. I cleanse as part of my morning shower, but don't use special products and I can feel that my skin could use some exfoliation, but don't know which to use.

Val, I use Ren AHA and have for years. But then I got the Ordinary Lactic acid bc of some influencer on IG. And I went for annual check up with derm recently and she told me to get glycolic acid. Which one of all these is useful so I can simplify? Oh and I use .1 Tretonin every day so no lack of exfoliating.

what a fountain of valuable information! presented w/ your characteristic wit of course.

thank you Val! and when i read the description of your mom's cream w/ rococo style metal lid- i had an intense flashback to the cream my mom used back in the 70s/ 80s - in heavy jars with a hmm, i would have to say repousse style metal lid. :-) i think Estee Lauder. that's a real blast from the past.
