My mother (Ione Rush Mollegen, b. 1904) told me that with time, one’s disposition will show in one’s face. She pointed out several examples among people we knew, and she certainly seemed to have a point. She also told me that kindness and generosity are traits you can develop with practice. Right again, in lots of cases. (I often think of these observations during election campaigns.) Chronic anxiety is a challenge to the beauty world.

I am 63, white, and spent my childhood outdoors in Hawaii - so I get yearly skin checks for cancer and have been lucky so far. We shouldn’t forget that our skin is our largest organ and the one most exposed to the elements and environment, as well as the everyday abuse of living. I HATE HATE HATE the “howdy doody” puppet lines that have developed at the corners of my mouth, but I accept them because my skin is doing its best for me, and has done a great job otherwise!

This has the potential to be something life changingly amazing. Why sully it with the ugliest word in the world?

And hair. Black hair for people who work out.

Thank you so much Elena for sharing her story and you Val por publishing it. I too have BP, woke up one day and my life changed. In a way that feels cruel at times, because it’s not life threatening when so many are dealing, but difficult and you don’t feel like you can complain (not life threatening) thank you

Hi Val. My question: I was getting ready to purchase Skinceuticals CE Ferulic for $108 and found a product on Amazon called SeoulCeuticals Day Glow Serum for $20.

Skinceuticals Ingredients: Vit C, Vit E, Ferulic Acid

SeoulCeuticals Ingredients: Vit C, Ferulic Acid, Hyaluronic Acid, d-Alpha Tocopheryl and a bunch of herbs.

Are the two products equivalent? I have this question in general because I know a lot of expensive skincare products have “knock-offs” of the originals. Are they as good?

Thank you!

I’m so happy to have found this! Count me in! I’ll share, learn and grow with every ounce of courage to be the best I can be, naturally or with a little help! I’m open to listening to every once of this!

Perhaps the influencers will stop filtering and start getting real! Nah, just joking. Like that’ll ever happen.

I tried it once and was given a product and had such anxiety.

I don’t have certain SM accounts, don’t filter, and F if I’m handing out personal info on my past to continue to receive a .002 ounce packet of something and won’t say how it is so incredible it transformed me in one application. Pass.

Anyway, I’ll make it paid and tune in faithfully! Truth, aging, pain, wisdom, confidence and strength, is listening to others and yourself! Cheers to all!!!

Greetings Valerie! How many eyebrow trends have you seen in your career? In your opinion, is there a classic eyebrow shape that always looks good regardless of the fad du jour? Thanks!

Val, I just turn 80 and I’ve said no to everything! Like you, I don’t judge anyone who has “work” done. It’s a daily struggle for me, especially as I have a new book coming out and will soon be more “public,” but I have said no all these years for two equally important reasons: to be a role model for aging naturally and because if I had work done, didn’t like the results (or had serious problems), I’d have to look in the mirror for the rest of my life and know that I did it to myself! Bravo for your wisdom, honest, reporting, and willingness to discuss all of this openly.
