haha loved that !! (Skipped the succession part. Thanks for the spoiler warning!! !) Whenever I was yelling for them I always, mistakenly, called my children by our dog's name.
I sympathize. I called my first son by my brother's name, my second son by his brother's name, our first dog (male) by second son's name, our second second dog (female) by the nanny's name (the other female in the house besides me). That, in accounting, is called LIFO (last in, first out). I was so used to males that I referred to my first granddaughter as 'he' for several days -- clearly my brain had to adjust to the (thrilling) idea that a descendant of mine could be female.
People, do not name a child Flapjack. Yes, there is such an unlucky child out there somewhere. I heard he prefers Jack and intends to legally change it at 18.
haven't watched the show but enjoy all the sound and fury around it ie read Times this AM: "where altruism goes to die" and can't help feeling the studios could profit from like a Twilight-type spin-off
wherein the Yellowstone clan faces off with Succession folks in battle to Death on a barren field in an Illuminati-like Spectacle of shape-shifting were-wolves and bloody fangs....ok i admit i'm just using this space to show off my hyphens.....apologies all around...carry on lol
My family had a handsome black bunny named Arthur, who appeared to be wearing black tie evening dress. He wore it well. He was favorably compared to Cary Grant, in fact. Treat the name with respect, please. Somebunny might be listening.
Love this story, and how you landed on Reid’s name. But wasn’t your dog named Arthur? My mother sometimes mixed up the names of my brothers (there were so many of them underfoot), calling out all their names at once until she settled on the right one. And oh, one of my brothers is named Arthur.
Also, thanks for name theory re Succession! Gives even more impact to last night’s surprise finale!
Thanks for the giggle this morning Val!! Had it happen and often got the two boys backwards..... Motherhood can be exhausting sometimes, but the reward is all the energy we need!!
Greetings from Tokyo! Finished up a two week hiking tour and wishing we were staying longer than 5 days in Tokyo. What a great city and country. No wonder you love coming here!
We came up with all kinds of names for our second son, many of them random and a bit strange. One frontrunner was Gray, short for Graham. It is my Mom's maiden name and their clan is a defining part of my life. I distinctly remember the moment I was walking to work and realized I wanted to call him Jake simply because I love that name. His name has always fit him and I'm so glad that's where we landed. He is a Jake, he is definitely not a Gray!

You're reminding how my mom always mixed up my brother's name with our family dog's (!) His was Nate and the dog's? Her name was Nanook. Close enough for that mix-up but my brother wasn't all that happy about being confused with our Norweigan Elkhound even as she was a real beauty.
Good advice! My 2 year olds name is Tommy or Tom, short for Thomas. I could see myself forgetting the name Thomas in a pinch because I never call him that, but Tom is pretty easy to remember!
I did not see the Roger twist coming, and I can't stop laughing! This made me feel so much better about some of my own playground "failures"- like the time when my younger son was two and he was about to fall off the edge of the playground structure and my friend sprang into action and caught him before me- and she was eight months pregnant with twins.

This is the funniest, but scariest story!
