Lovely. Made me think of a line in a song Judy Collins wrote about Duke Ellington after he died: "He knew that we all have in us a place where beauty always grows." In tough times, that place can be a great refuge. Or so I've found.

I could not live without my prescription sunglasses. It became clear (or unclear?) years ago that if I wanted to read on the beach I was going to have to get serious eyewear. My sunglasses are trifocals, or progressives or whatever people call them and I cherish them.

I am going to frame the Socrates quote.

I do have a nice image of my grandmother and her jewelry. How I played with it and made me feel special. She also let me do her hair and makeup. Happy times admiring beauty from a child's perspective. RIP grandma!

I lucked out and had two stylish grandmas, and I think it's partly thanks to their influence that I often wind up with jewelry as a souvenir when I travel (and it's easy to pack!).
