Lavender-scented fancy tissues….what else have I been missing in life? Consider me “influenced”!

My grandmother-in-law keeps the most gorgeously monogramed handkerchiefs (literally) up her sleeve and now I know why. She's made her rhinitis positively elegant. Inspiration all around.

Enjoy Japan & little lady M!

That’s amazing about being included in Ness. Btw this really made me laugh. What a funny issue. Bc it’s true. There are just some people who are always dripping! Thx for the laugh before I start writing this morning.

I have kept a “party tub” of Aquaphor next to my bedside for over 12 years as it protects and soothes everything. Initially recommended to me by my dermatologist SIL.

Question- have you ever found an alternative that isn’t petroleum based?

thank you

I’ve had the dripping nose issue for much (most? Hard to say when it started) of my adult life. Maybe I’ll try that spray or just commit to vintage hankies...much more elegant the corner of my sleeve 😬. Thanks, as always, for the info. I’m in perimenopause and my skin has gone bonkers. Thanks to your recommendations, I’m keeping it mostly calm and hydrated and trying not to spend too much time thinking about how lifted everything looked pre-lockdown.

Enjoy your trip!

Have a great trip!

I have had a runny nose for years. It accompanies my outrageous allergies and that whole problem is about to intensify so I’m glad to meet these tissues.

First, wishing you and yours a Happy Valentine’s Day. I imagine you’re getting lots of love and kisses from M too!

Enlightening post, as always. I’ve been coping with allergic rhinitis for decades. And now I’m wondering whether the imbalance that comes with aging as described by Dr. Yagoda might make allergic rhinitis symptoms more persistent. A question for my allergist next time I see her. Meanwhile, she has me on OTC Flonase nasal spray, which has been helpful.

Again, thank you for another terrific post. Looking forward to more dispatches from Tokyo and hope you have a lovely family visit!

It's so exciting that you are in Japan! I am actually heading there in a couple of weeks for my first visit. I am curious, are there any skin care products that I could bring home that aren't available in North America? I am thinking about how BB cream used to only be available in Korea (I think)... now it is everywhere. What should I be on the lookout for in Japan?

I feel like you just got back from Japan!  How nice you're there again !  (Maybe a future post on how you prep your skin for that long dry plane ride...?).

I took the advice of another kind reader here & bought 2 silk pillowcases from target - 1 for my mom &1 for me - they made the most perfect V day present.  We'll see if hair& skin benefit but my mom is already very pleased with me. Priceless.

Have fun & please make sure to check out TOKYU HANDS & DON QUIJOTE- huge, fun& wacky  stores.

I thought it might be helpful to share a comment (with her permission) from a reader who wrote to me directly: "I recently discovered that gluten makes my nose run. Since I've cut out the majority of it from my diet, whenever I have some, BOOM, nose dripping ensues the next day. Who knew?"

Anybody else with a similar experience, please share in the comments. xo
